Why it Works

Option One Initiative Uganda’s programs work because they combine practical economic empowerment with social healing, addressing both the causes and consequences of vulnerability. By equipping women and youth with hands-on skills in metal fabrication, carpentry, art, and craft production, participants gain real pathways to income and independence. At the same time, gender-based violence awareness creates safe spaces for education, prevention, and survivor support, while start-up toolkits and mentorship ensure that training translates into sustainable livelihoods. Together, these programs move beyond short-term aid, building confidence, dignity, and long-term resilience within communities.
